MIRM AT GLANCE


The Institute (MIRM) goal is to meet the needs of retirees by providing high value reskilling, upskilling or re-employment readiness after retirement. This is done by providing high value added training programs (short courses) and other continuous post retirement economic beneficial programs to help retirees and working professionals increase their retirement preparedness for the Malaysian workforce.


The Institute is dedicated to high ethical and professional standards within the profession and are committed to raising the profile of retiree life after retirement. The MIRM is a brain child idea and concept developed, by Koperasi Pesara Pesara Malaysia Berhad (KPPMB) leadership to develop and operate various retirement and social development activities by supporting and extending needful resources and helping Malaysian retirees be well prepared physically, emotionally, mentally, socially and financially.

WHO WE ARE


The Malaysian Institute of Retirement Management (MIRM) is a non-profit membership professional body offering pre and post retirement preparedness and readiness management programs that promote learning, best practices and standards of professional excellence in the practice of retirement management.


MIRM was founded in 2015 and duly registered in 2018, and its programs target pre and post retirees, trustees, Human Resources Officers, Pension Officers, Scheme Administrators, Legal Officers and custodians who are involved in the provision for retirement benefits.


Despite the country’s astronomical growth, capacity building on technical professional aspects of retirement is still an emerging issues advanced by unpreparedness and readiness of retirement community.


MIRM aims to be a leading training institute of excellence in the field of retirement management through development of competency based retirement resettlement programs, promoting research and collaborations that support its members so as to build the required human resources, ready and prepared in facing life after retirement, not only in Malaysia, but across South East Asia.

Retirement success is achieved when a decision drives a positive outcome within the retirees. Retirement doesn’t drive people, people drive retirement, and if these retiree take decisions which are less of a gamble and more informed, then the outcome is bound to have a merited beneficial outcome.

The magic is in making better decisions continuously and repeatedly based on guided, customized and tailor made retirement readiness and preparedness programs, delivered based on data and relevant retirement trends. There is an art of comprehending data, and converting it into an intelligent and deliverable format which is digestible and informative. This includes retirement courses and programs and is a skill that we as an Institute for retirement management have mastered, like no one else.

We at MIRM keep trying to better our best, every day to be the leading exemplary retirement Institute of choice in Malaysia, with a passion for retirees and to address and manage the tremendous retirement challenges facing many Malaysians. The MIRM was formed and registered with the Registrar of Society (ROS) Malaysia as a non-profit organization and the first retirement Institute representing the interests of the retirement community across Malaysia.

The institute truly encompasses all aspects of retirement readiness and preparedness through the delivery of specialized and customized programs, solely for the needs of the retired community, not only in Malaysia, but across South East Asia.

FACILITATION & DELIVERABLES


The purpose of MIRM is “To set and promote standards of excellence and lifelong retirement learning and development for pre and post retirees’ benefits and promote retirement savings, healthy ageing, healthy living and improved social dynamics of retirees through retirement training programs, membership network and ongoing retirement support services.” To achieve this, MIRM developed the 7 P’s objective model of deliverables respectively as stated below.

Promotes and embeds professional standards, setting the benchmark for best retirement management practices.
Produces retirement training, coaching and facilitation programs that have a reputation for excellence and ensure that employee (pre-retirees ) and retirees (post-retirees) benefits and improve their retirement management, savings, standards and legislation for retirement living.
Provides continued lifelong retirement learning and development and training programs designed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of retirees, benefits and retirement savings so they can perform to the best of their ability.
Plays a pivotal role in shaping the industry, working with government, cooperative societies and collaborating with other bodies on research and through leadership on key issues of gerontology and retirement living.
Proactively has a voice in mainstream and social media with a presence on twitter and LinkedIn.

Presents an annual conference and a wide range of retirement living and lifestyle seminars and workshops for pre and post retirees both professional, semi-professionals and non-professionals focusing on their physical, emotional, mental, f inancial and spiritual wellbeing.
Participate industry leading insight including the publication “ Retirement World Magazine, ” Retirement News, Retirement TV, Expert Retirement Partners Insights, Newsletters and blogs to keep practitioners, retirees ( pre & post ) abreast of the very latest developments in a rapidly changing industry and retirement living across the globe.
